Thanks to its charm, it has been defined “City of art and Land of gastronomy”. City of art because of its millenary history, still visible in the historic centre, where the Torre dell’Orologio (Clock Tower) of Piazza Plebiscito separates the nineteenth-century from the Medieval part. City of art also for all the elements that lend Ceglie Messapica the typical style of the Apulian towns: the alleys in the historic centre, the white houses, the castles, the noble palaces, the frescoed churches, but also the world-renowned Trulli, which the locals call “casedde” (i.e. small houses).
